Corridor Digital has amassed outrage after advertising for unpaid interns to help with editing. The job description notes that the role is “100% voluntary,” and can count towards school credit. According to the posting, the intern would be required to edit on an “agreed upon, consistent schedule” and work exclusively in the Corridor Digital studio.
The post also asks that these “hungry interns” be proficient in advanced editing software like DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro.
However, as a Redditor pointed out on the r/youtubedrama subreddit, Corridor Digital has 10 million subscribers. While some Reddit users noted that it was common for creative internships to be unpaid, others added, that “it’s common, but very unethical.
Redditors React to Corridor Internship Ad
The majority of users, in general, were outraged.
“This, really sadly, sours the otherwise great branding capital and impression that have been built and portrayed so well in their excellent YouTube videos/content,” one Redditor wrote.
“I hope Corridor 100% voluntarily reconsider the way they intend to launch their internship program. Be kind, especially if you guys are doing well enough to do so.”
While another added: “Any labor no matter how small should be compensated. Especially if a company is actually asking you to work for them.”
A third simply advised: “Don’t work for free — especially in LA.”
As of this writing, Corridor has taken the job posting down.
