At Long Last, You Can Rearrange Your Grid on Instagram

Yesterday, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced in a blog post that the platform will soon be rolling out the ability to rearrange your grid on the app. The much-sought-after feature will give users the ability to switch up their grid in any way they like. Previously, pinning a post was the only way to do this, with Instagram posts automatically arranging your grid chronologically, leaving little room for customization.

In addition to this, Instagram users will now have the ability to add a post without “broadcasting” it to their followers. “We know creative expression can feel intimidating, especially when posting something to feed,” Mosseri wrote. “We hope this added flexibility over how and where your content shows up helps you create and share without added pressure.”

What Else Is Coming to Instagram?

The platform has also made trial reels, which allow non-followers to preview your reels, open to everyone.

Mosseri added that Instagram is “continuing to invest heavily” in its CapCut rival app Edits, and that, in collaboration with Rosalía, a new handwriting-style font will be available to use on stories and reels.

Thanks to a new Spotify integration, users can now share what they’re listening to on Notes. And finally, the platform announced Drafts: a new initiative where it’ll provide financial and other support to “the next-generation of creative voices.”

“The willingness of people like you to make something and share it with the world is what makes Instagram work,” Mosseri concluded. “There is so much creativity on the platform, and we’re committed to doing more to support people taking creative chances.”
