On June 4, the 2024 Tribeca Festival announced plans for a new festival vertical targeted specifically for creators. The vertical, which was made in partnership with Whalar Group, is set to launch on June 8 with a talk led by creators Brandon Edelman and Coco Mocoe, and filmmaker Archie Gips.
According to a press release issued by Tribeca, the free talk will examine “creators as the next wave of entrepreneurs, storytellers, community builders and publishers, and how they are redefining the entertainment industry.” The press release also notes that this talk will cover topics like engagement, fandoms, and authentic storytelling.
But that’s not all. The Tribeca X Awards are also introducing its first-ever Creator/Influencer award for social media creators. And to top it all off, Tribeca is gathering key figures from across Hollywood and the creator economy at Neuehouse.
What have the organizers said?
“Tribeca goes where our audiences go,” Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises said in a statement. “We’re endlessly curious about new and innovative forms of storytelling, and however a filmmaker or storyteller wants to tell a story and reach new audiences – whether a feature film, immersive experience, or across social media – Tribeca will showcase it.”
Meanwhile, Neil Waller, co-founder and Co-CEO, Whalar Group added that “creators are at the heart of everything we do, it’s woven into our DNA. This partnership with Tribeca is a thrilling step forward, as they share our deep commitment to the art of brand storytelling.”
“Our mission is to liberate the creative voice, and together, we will empower creators by unlocking limitless opportunities, amplifying diverse voices, and celebrating the essence of creativity in the entertainment industry.”
