Some people think that being a creator is as simple as switching on a camera and talking. But in reality, it’s so much more than that. Content, especially long-form types, involves a lot of time, effort, and research way before it makes its way to our screens. So, considering creators as experts in their various niches is arguably way overdue.
On September 25, Search Engine Land (SEL) ran an article confirming that Google is starting to recognize creators as “experts” in their specific content area. This is because some creators have had ‘Knowledge Panels’ applied to them in Google search results.
What happens when you Google creators?
When you Google a notable person’s name, a ‘Knowledge Panel’ comes up, along with a bio and links to that person’s website or social media platforms. However, creators’ Knowledge Panels are slightly different because they also specify the niche that creators are known for.
Examples cited by Tubefilter include Dr Casey Means, who comes up as “Content creator (Medicine),” and Carmen Edelson, who comes up as “Content creator (Travel).”
SEL adds that this is important because it “gives visible and meaningful proof that Google has recognized them [creators] as credible sources of information on a specific topic.”
Furthermore, according to SEL, Google is hoping to tag a handful of creators in this way every two weeks. Data from Kailcube (via SEL) also suggests that Google is tagging creators in a wide range of niches, including agriculture, fashion, and magic.
