All Facebook Videos Are Turning Into Reels

Reels have become an important part of building an Instagram following — now Meta is stretching its impact even further. In a new blog post, the company announced that videos on Facebook can be turned into Reels.

One of Facebook’s biggest benefits previously was that it allowed users to upload videos of different lengths. However, in the blog post, Meta made it clear that it would be removing all runtime restrictions from Reels. Now, Reels will no longer have any length or format restrictions.

Furthermore, Meta notes that while users had to use “different creative flows and tools” to make Facebook videos and Reels, this merger means users will benefit from “a simplified publishing flow” that gives them access to more “even more creative tools.”

To further streamline things, Meta also announced that it was “unifying privacy settings across Feeds.” This means that your default setting will be the same for both Feed and Reels publishing formats — and you’ll still have a choice over just how public you want your posts to be.

Moreover, your previously published videos will still be available to audiences, even if they aren’t Reels.

Finally, Facebook’s full-screen Video Tab is undergoing a facelift — it will now be known as the Reels tab.

“Facebook remains a home for all types of video – short, long, and Live,” the blog post concludes. “We will gradually roll out these changes globally to profiles and Pages over the coming months to help you create, share and discover reels more easily on Facebook.”
