Creators who post Reels, photo carousels, and single-image photo posts on Instagram may be able to earn a cash bonus.
Meta confirmed to Business Insider on April 3 that it’s “testing” a new ‘Spring Bonus’ program. According to the outlet, the scheme is invite-only.
Instagram caps bonuses at $30,000 for a 30-day period. The Spring Bonus is only available in the US, Japan, and South Korea.
Previously, Meta offered the ‘Reels Play Bonus’ for creators who posted videos on Instagram. However, this was shut down in March 2023. Since then, cash bonuses returned in the form of a “holiday bonus” and a “New Year’s bonus.”
It should also be noted that, according to Business Insider, posts that are labeled as branded content or collab posts are not eligible for monetization via the Spring Bonus Program.
Posts watermarked as being from other platforms, like TikTok, are also ineligible. Meta has previously made it clear that it’s trying to discourage people from just repurposing TikToks on the app.
Back in 2022, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a video that “if you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you are re-sharing something that you found from someone else.” It looks like, two years later, this still rings true.
