Following its announcement in January, Instagram has finally launched Edits — a video editing and creation app tailor-made for creators. “The process of making videos can be challenging, often requiring multiple apps and complicated workflows,” Instagram says in a blog post. “With Edits, you now have a dedicated space with powerful capabilities for video creation.”

Subsequently, Edits has a whole suite of features to make video-making more convenient than ever. One benefit of Edits is that you can keep track of ideas and organize projects in one place. You can write down ideas for new videos or add notes to Reels for when inspiration strikes.

Creators will also be able to browse Reels and explore trending, undiscovered sounds. You can also use your smartphone camera to capture up to ten minutes of video via Edits. Edits also has features like green screen, video timelines, an audio library, the ability to add captions, cutouts, and animation.

As for publishing your videos, Edits can share them directly to Facebook and Instagram within the app. You will also be able to export the video to post elsewhere, watermark-free. Lastly, Edits includes insights to help you understand how your content is doing..

In the blog post, Instagram also indicated that further features will be coming soon. These include keyframes, the ability to modify your video with AI, and more text, voice effects, transitions, and filters. Instagram is also promising more royalty-free music and sound options are on the way.

Edits is now available to download from the App Store and Google Play Store.
