Instagram Edits Downloaded 7.1 Million Times In Its First Two Days Of Release

Instagram Edits Is Already Beating CapCut

Things have started on a positive note for Instagram Edits, with the app having a bigger debut than its main competitor, CapCut.

According to Appfigures, which was cited by TechCrunch, the app was downloaded an estimated 702,900 times on iOS devices within the first two days. This, in turn, amounts to 37 times more downloads than CapCut had on its first two days.

As of April 24, two days after Edits’ launch, Appfigures reports that Edits has had a total of 1.2 million downloads on iOS and 5.9 million downloads on Android. This means that the app was downloaded a total of 7.1 million times. CapCut, on the other hand, was nowhere near these kinds of figures when it first launched. In its first three days, it was only downloaded 83,500 times across Apple and Android.

Moreover, in its first three days, Edits had a total of 381,000 US downloads. By contrast, CapCut was downloaded just 3,400 times during its first three days in the US. This makes Edits’ US launch 112x the size of CapCut’s.

Edits climbed to number one on the US Apple Store on several charts, including Top Overall Apps and Top Apps. Not bad for the app’s first day.

Still, Edits has a way to go to catch up to CapCut’s overall user base. CapCut currently stands at 1.22 billion downloads across both app stores. That being said, if these early numbers are anything to go by, users are happily exploring alternatives to CapCut.
