Influencer Jake Paul and professional boxer Mike Tyson’s boxing event is pulling no punches with its impressive viewing numbers.
Netflix, the platform that streamed Jake Paul v Mike Tyson from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, shared early viewing figures in a new article for Tudum. In total, 60 million viewers are reported to have watched the event, with the number of viewers peaking at 65 million concurrent streams.
While this is a little far off from Paul’s claim of 120 million viewers, it’s an impressive feat nonetheless. It’s also worth noting that in terms of viewing figures, these are early days. Netflix will likely release more viewing figures in the coming weeks.
What happened during the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson fight?
The controversial creator Paul, who recently endorsed former President Donald Trump, and the retired boxer Tyson’s bout has been a long time coming.
Back in November 2023, the Wall Street Journal reported that Netflix was considering streaming a boxing match with Paul. From there, a match was scheduled for July 2024 — but it had to be postponed to November because Tyson had a stomach ulcer, from which Tyson said he “almost died.”
Eventually, after Tyson slapped Paul during their final weigh-in, the pair faced each other in the ring on Nov. 15. Eight rounds later, via unanimous decision, Paul ended up winning on points.
58-year-old Tyson only landed 18 punches on his opponent, while 27-year-old Paul landed a total of 78.
