Recently, Mark Zuckerberg has been more controversial than ever. Back in January, he announced that Meta was getting rid of fact-checkers and loosening content moderation in the name of “free speech.”
He also seemed to go on a crusade against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, gutting these initiatives from Meta, and from his and his wife’s charity, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
As Zuckerberg seemingly moves more toward the right, people have been making their feelings clear in a new Pew survey.
How Is Mark Zuckerberg Unpopular?
The survey pitted Zuckerberg against another one of the most hated men in the country: Elon Musk. Of the 5,086 participants, 54% said that they disliked Musk, which, while a large number, was significantly lower than Zuckerberg’s at 67%.
Unsurprisingly, Musk’s popularity was found to be low with Democrats and high with Republicans. The survey found that 85% of Democrats had unfavorable views on Musk. By contrast, 75% of Republicans had favorable views of the X owner.
The data shows that Zuckerberg, on the other hand, is consistently disliked across the political spectrum. 60% of Republicans reported having an unfavorable view of the Meta CEO, while 76% of Democrats admitted they disliked him.
Zuckerberg is now between a rock and a hard place. Alienating the left with his cozy dinners with Trump hasn’t worked out as he wanted it to, as the right remains unwilling to accept him. Perhaps this will cause him to rethink some of his recent actions, but we won’t hold our breath.
