For MrBeast, the controversies just keep coming. Hot on the heels of the Beast Games lawsuit, which was recently punctuated with further concerns about staff mistreatment, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson is now facing criticism over a recent job listing.

On September 27, MrBeast put out a job posting for an ‘AI Concept Artist.’ based on the (now-deleted) job description, involved using generative AI to help create thumbnails for YouTube videos.

Creators react to MrBeast AI job posting

Predictably, this didn’t go down well with fellow creators, who made their position clear on X.

“Hey MrBeast, f**k you,” one artist wrote. “Maybe put a real artist who needs a job on payroll instead of shilling out money for someone to put a prompt into a generator. Unbelievable.”

Another artist said: “If y’all gon hire someone anyway, just hire a full-on artist lol they can at least control the result better and apply changes where it is due.”

Meanwhile, a third provided a more level approach, adding: “I get the feeling that a real artist would’ve been treated like s**t if he did hire one. He doesn’t deserve them at all.”

On September 28, the job ad was changed to ‘Thumbnail Concept Artist’ before being subsequently removed. While Donaldson hasn’t commented on the gaffe directly, the removal pretty much says it all.
