💸 Would You Tell This TikToker How Much You Make?

CREATOR ECONOMY NEWSLETTER

The Great Resignation persists as people continue to demand better compensation and working conditions from their jobs. Workers at massive companies like Amazon, Apple, and Starbucks are pushing to unionize for more benefits and protections after the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Pew Research Center survey found that one of the top reasons that Americans are quitting is low pay. The survey reported that 56% of people who quit their jobs and found new positions are now making more money. However, it can be hard to know whether you’re being paid adequately or not, as talking about salaries is often seen as taboo.

Enter Salary Transparency Street, a TikTok account run by Hannah Williams which aims to provide candid discussions about wages across industries. Passionfruit contributor Steven Asarch spoke with Williams about her project and how she gets people on the street to open up about how much they make.
