It’s no secret that too much social media can negatively impact our mental health. Studies show that internet and online gaming addictions can cause users to have low self-esteem, poor sleep, mood disorders, and more. One psychiatrist, Dr. Alok Kanojia, is hoping to help these users by meeting them where they are—on platforms like Twitch. From self-described incels to cyberbullying victims, Dr. Kanojia, better known as Dr. K to his followers, helps the Very Online cope with their problems—and sometimes even log off. Passionfruit contributor Casey Kleczek spoke to Dr. K about his journey from coping with his own video game addiction to treating the internet generation.
