Tim Walz Takes on Twitch

CREATOR NEWSLETTER

Donning a camouflage Vikings hat, vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has decided to take a page out of creators’ playbooks.

Joined this past Sunday on Twitch by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, known for her record-breaking streams in the past, Walz played as the Vikings on “Madden NFL 25” and ran into pedestrians in “Crazy Taxi,” all while chatting about the upcoming election next week.

The Harris campaign’s latest social media effort targets young men, seeking to narrow the significant gap in support among this demographic. To put this into perspective, recent polling data reveals a notable disparity: 69% of women aged 18-29 prefer Harris, whereas only 45% of young men share the same sentiment. This stark contrast underscores a gender difference that surpasses those observed in every other voter group.

Trump has also been targeting influencers popular with young men, like Logan Paul and Adin Ross. Perhaps that’s why the Washington Post reported this weekend that political campaigns are pouring millions of dollars into influencer marketing. For better or worse, politicians are finally recognizing the immense power creators possess, and only next Tuesday will tell how these strategies will pay off.
