Being a creator, dealing with fans is part of the package. However, things can get complicated as these relationships become more parasocial, and, ultimately, make some fans feel as if they’re entitled to a creator’s attention. Nobody knows that better than Kai Cenat.

In a recent stream, he shared a tense encounter he had with a parent and child.

“I was in a rush to go to my flight bro and I was running late and I couldn’t take a picture with somebody’s child, right? And me having to be in a hurry, I said ‘My bad, I appreciate you but I got to hurry because I’m going to miss my plane’, the parent of the child flipped me off,” he recounted.

“They cursed me out because I couldn’t stop,” he added. “I couldn’t stop for the photo, and they flipped me off and cursed me out, bro, because I was in a rush for my flight.”

This isn’t even the first time entitled fans have ruined Cenat’s air travel experience. Back in March, he shared how a flight attendant woke him up three times for a picture.

“I don’t mind taking pictures, I don’t mind signing things, but bro, waking me up out of my sleep I feel like is the craziest thing ever,” he said at the time.

This incident raises a number of questions. Should Cenat, and other creators accept this as the norm? Or do fans need to be more mindful of creators’ own time and privacy? The truth is, creators don’t really owe fans their constant attention, especially if it comes at a detriment to them, like missing a flight. Ulitmately, creators are human beings too, and they shouldn’t be expected to cater to fans’ every whim.
