It’s no secret that streamers are becoming more political. Some of the most influential creators, like Hasan Piker, have become renowned for their political rants, while the likes of Kat Abughazaleh and Fidias Panayiotou are so committed to the cause, they’re even running for office. Moreover, platforms like Kick and Rumble have become notorious for hosting creators with right-wing views, and as the left-right divide battles continue online, it looks like politics on these platforms is only going to get bigger.
Per Steam Charts’ Politics In Streaming report, which includes the number of views between 2022 and 2025, political stream viewership has gone up by 56% year-on-year. During the first quarter of 2024, viewers watched 2.61 billion hours of political streams across various platforms. Comparatively, for the first quarter of 2025, viewers watched 3.4 billion hours.
As for the most-watched political channels across platforms, the Al Jazeera Channel on YouTube Live came in first with 1.036 billion hours watched. Coming in second is Hasan Piker on Twitch, with viewers watching 79.53 million hours worth of his streams. Meanwhile, the Right Side Broadcasting Network on Rumble totaled 44.88 million hours.
In terms of platforms, 98% of viewers watched streams on YouTube, which, according to Tubefilter, is in part due to the fact that Indian news agencies are making YouTube their platform of choice. Still, it’s worth noting that while Twitch gets less watch time, its political content is more diverse. One trend in particular also suggests that these political streamers might achieve world domination, with Piker getting less than half his viewers from the US.
“In Q1 2025, political content nearly matched the volume of gaming streams on Twitch, a platform known for its gaming roots,” Streams Charts said in the report. “In absolute terms, politics accounted for over 11% of all content watched across the industry. And that share is still rising.”
