Roblox Makes Lofty Promises to Creators

At first glance, Roblox might look like just another sandbox game. But what sets Roblox apart is the fact that its system allows creators to develop their own games. Indeed, these creators are handsomely rewarded for their work, with Roblox reporting that it shelled out nearly $1 billion to creators last year.

However, one roadblock Roblox creators face is marketing. They’re solely responsible for promoting their own games, but in such a large market, it can be difficult for them to get noticed.

Yet, as explained in a blog post by Roblox, that might be about to change. “Our focus for 2025 is to refine and expand our discovery systems to better support your growth,” the blog reads.

Changes include a revamped, more engaging home screen, an improved algorithm that’s focussing on “prioritizing organic recommendations,” an improved search feature that will “blend results” across different Roblox categories, and the reduction of what the platform describes as “low-quality content.”

The blog post also announced a number of new launches, including an update to the creators’ ad manager system and a friend referral initiative. Players will also be able to give feedback to the developers of the game.

Roblox recently faced backlash over allegations of monopolizing its ad system, hindering creator access to brands. While the platform’s promised improvements aim to enhance creator experiences, the question remains: can these changes fully repair the damage done?
