Early next year, the Spotlight Rewards Program will be no more, as Snap gears up to release what it describes as a “unified” Monetization Program.
Via the Program, which was announced in a blog post, Snap will continue to place ads on certain creators’ stories. The program also comes with the added benefit of letting creators monetize their Spotlight videos too. That is, if their videos are over a minute long.
How do I qualify for Snap’s Monetization Program?
Firstly, as the blog reports, creators need a public profile. They also must have a minimum of 1,000 followers and 10,000 unique video views to qualify for the program.
Creators must post at least 25 times a month to Spotlight or Saved Stories. They must have also posted to either Public Stories or Spotlight at least ten of the last 28 days.
There are other metrics that creators must reach before they can be considered for the program. For example, they must have at least 50,000 followers or reach one of three milestones in the last 28 days. These milestones are 10 million Snap views, 1 million Spotlight views, and 12,000 hours of viewing time.
However, if you meet these criteria, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to join the Monetization Program right away. According to a blog post penned by Snap, the only way to get on the program is if you’re invited by Snap.
The Monetization program rolls out on Feb 1. 2025, while the Spotlight Rewards Program will remain available until Jan. 31, according to TechCrunch.
“Over the last year, the number of creators posting publicly has more than tripled, and our community loves their content,” Snap said in a blog post.
“We remain committed to evolving and expanding the total rewards available to creators, from Snap’s Monetization Program to the Snap Star Collab Studio, and more, making it even easier for them to find success and get rewarded for being their authentic selves.”
