As a creator app, Snapchat has been overlooked. But as Snap releases a number of new creator-focused features, we shouldn’t count out the platform just yet.
“We’re continually inspired by the creativity and passion of our diverse community, where over 1 billion Snaps are shared publicly each month by Snapchatters, creators, and partners,” Snap said in an announcement post.
“We’re excited to introduce a suite of new tools, features, and insights that make it easier than ever to create, share, and watch content. These updates are designed to empower creators to capture their realest moments on Snapchat.”
What Are Snapchat’s New Features?
One such feature is the ‘Timeline Editor,’ which is designed to help Snapchat creators edit their content directly in the app. The Editor is laid out chronologically, so users can trim and reorder clips with ease. Beyond this, users will be able to add sounds, Lenses, and have access to a whole manner of creative features.
Snap also seems to be following in Apple’s footsteps with its ‘Create A Video’ template, which creates montages with content shared to ‘Memories.’
Creators Are Also Getting New Insight Features
The platform has also rolled out a number of new insights for creators, including metrics like returning viewers, top content, total view time, views by traffic sources, Spotlight average view time, and Spotlight average view rate. One of the most exciting features, which is coming soon to the US, is the ability for creators to auto-save their public Stories directly to their profile, giving your content a bigger audience and ensuring followers never miss out.
With all these new features, creators will be able to take their content to the next level. Rival apps should be worried.
