Spotify is the leading platform for podcasts in the world, and that success is paying off for its biggest creators. The platform has revealed in a blog post that it paid out $100 million to creators in the first quarter of 2025.
According to Spotify, this payout is a mix of ad revenue and revenue from the Spotify Partner Program, which launched earlier this year. As a reminder, the Partnership Program helps creators make money via Spotify Premium video engagement, along with allowing ads on Spotify Free and other podcast platforms.
Spotify also revealed that its Partner Program is driving growth. The platform reports that total earnings for creators in the Partnership Program increased by 23% between January and February. This then increased further to 29% between February and March. Spotify also noted that more creators are taking advantage of Spotify’s video features, with active monthly podcasts increasing by 28% since the program’s launch.
How Have Creators Benefitted From the Partner Program?
Spotify then cited specific podcasts that benefit from the Partner Program. The platform notes that ‘Your Mom’s House with Christina P. and Tom Segura’ and ‘The Rest Is Politics: US’ have seen a “remarkable surge” since joining the Program. Weekly consumption of these podcasts is up by more than 45%.
The platform also notes that ‘Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast’ is reaping the benefits of the Partner Program: weekly consumption is up 12% since joining the program, with a total consumption time of 30% between January and March. Moreover, podcast ‘Two Hot Takes’ has also seen weekly consumption grow by 12%.
“Ultimately, Spotify is committed to building a sustainable ecosystem where creators can thrive,” Spotify concludes. “This $100 million payout is just one step in that journey. We’ll continue to invest in new tools, resources, and programs to support creators in all formats, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for podcasting on Spotify.”
