After an agonizing wait, the Spotify Partner Program has finally been released in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
How does the Spotify Partner Program work?
The program, which was first announced at Spotify’s Now Playing event, offers eligible creators the chance to get access to multiple income streams.
One such stream involves the ability to monetize viewers’ Spotify Premium videos via audience-driven metrics. In layman’s terms, this means that video revenue will be earned when Premium users stream or view a creator’s show.
Another stream allows creators to monetize via ads on Spotify Free and other podcast platforms. To put it simply, this means that creators will be given an undetermined share of revenue whenever a Spotify ad plays during one of their shows: even if said show is on a different platform.
“This dual approach gives creators greater flexibility and control, helping them navigate industry shifts and maintain consistent revenue streams,” Spotify says in a blog post.
“Users, meanwhile, benefit from enhancements to the viewing experience and a bigger and better catalog of video podcasts, and Premium users are able to watch without interruptions from third-party ads.”
According to Spotify, more than 65% of eligible creators have enrolled since the Partner Program was announced in November.
