As the fate of TikTok remains in limbo, the platform is pulling out all the stops to keep its creators interested. Its latest venture is the ‘Specialized Rewards Program’ (SRP). In an Instagram infographic, the platform described the Program as “an exciting new opportunity for creators to earn extra rewards for the high-quality, specialized content they create.”
Specifically, the SRP is targeting creators with “standout, high-quality content” in areas like film and TV, automotive, learning, and sports.
“You’ll help drive the future of TikTok’s most impactful content while building a community that shares your passions,” TikTok adds.
However, before you run to apply, it’s worth noting that the program is invite-only — at least for now.
As pointed out by Tubefilter, the SRP feels like a mixture between Snapchat’s Spotlight program and Twitch’s bounties. Snapchat’s Spotlight program paid creators extra if their videos were high-performing, while Twitch’s bounties involved making content directly for a brand for additional income.
According to a report by Oxford Economics, TikTok is already making a huge contribution to the economy. The report found that in 2024, 4.7 million US jobs “benefited from a TikTok business account.” Perhaps this new monetization opportunity will help continue this economic growth, but honestly, it looks like TikTok needs to re-evaluate its priorities.
