TikTok has announced that it is rolling out an updated Subscription feature for eligible creators in select countries.
For now, those countries include the US, UK, Brazil, France, Germany, Spain, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, and South Korea. But the platform said that others will soon follow.
Per the announcement, the Subscription feature will enable creators to offer “their most engaged followers” exclusive access to certain perks.
What TikTok ‘Subscription’ perks will followers get?
As explained in the website post, one of these perks includes private communication channels, such as a bespoke “Sub Space” and direct messaging.
Another is exclusive content, specifically videos, lives, and notes that are subscribers only. In addition, there are community identifiers like exclusive LIVE stickers and profile badges as well as customized perks like performance requests, Discord roles, and shoutouts.
According to TechCrunch, subscribers will be offered three different tiers at three different price points.
TechCrunch also reports that in order to access Subscription, creators must be at least eighteen years old and must have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 views in the past month.
To access this expanded suite of monetization offers, creators will need to head to the Monetization module in TikTok Studio, which will explain these offerings and recommendations in more depth.
This comes after TikTok announced in March that it was renaming its LIVE Subscription tool to just “Subscription,” expanding the monetization tool to creators outside of LIVE.
