Influencer ‘Woah Vicky’ has sparked outrage after faking her own kidnapping online. In a chain of events that feels stranger than fiction, 24-year-old Victoria Waldrip started off by posting about her trip to Nigeria.

In one X post from Christmas Eve, for instance,  she wrote, “I love Nigeria.” But everything changed on Dec. 29 after a second strange post appeared on Waldrip’s account.

“I have kidnapped Vicky,” the now-deleted post read. “She is with me in Nigeria. I am demanding $1 million for her release.”

Unsurprisingly, many were left concerned by this post on Waldrip’s account. In a now-deleted Instagram story obtained by Dexerto, fellow creator and friend Rony Fargo claimed he was FaceTimed by a man asking for a $1 million ransom.

He said he was “dead serious” about the kidnap and even claimed to file a police report.

However, in a livestream, it soon became apparent that Waldrip wasn’t telling the truth.

What did Woah Vicky say about the kidnap claims?

“Sorry about that, everything’s good ya’ll,” she said in a livestream. “I was bored and having fun, just getting a laugh. Just getting a laugh, fam. That’s it. It’s all love, I’m just having fun with my brother, everything’s good.”

According to Dexerto, this led to Fargo deleting his prior Instagram story and replacing it with an ambiguous emoji.

Over on X, users were also aggravated by the dupe. “She should be arrested,” one wrote. “That literally isn’t funny,” another added. While a third declared that “she needs consequences.”

At the time of writing, Waldrip hasn’t commented further on this incident.
