AI can do many amazing things — but it can be terrifying, too. This is why YouTube and the Creative Artists Agency have teamed up to fight against celebrity deepfakes. Deepfakes are a pertinent example of what can happen when AI falls into the wrong hands, and when it comes to celebrity deepfakes, that’s a whole other ball game entirely.

As reported by TubeFilter, they aim to do this by building a detection system that will actively look for deepfake content so that creators and celebrities can flag it and request that it be removed via YouTube’s privacy complaint process.

What Will the YouTube and CAA Tool Look Like?

While the details of this system are unknown, YouTube describes it in a blog post as  “early-stage technology designed to identify and manage AI-generated content that features their likeness, including their face, on YouTube at scale.”

In a statement, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said: “At YouTube, we believe that a responsible approach to AI starts with strong partnerships. We’re excited to collaborate with CAA, an organization that shares our commitment to empowering artists and creators.”

“In the days ahead, we’ll work with CAA to ensure artists and creators experience the incredible potential of AI while also maintaining creative control over their likeness. This partnership marks a significant step toward building that future.”
