YouTube Create, Google’s own version of video editing software CapCut, has now been rolled out in beta on Android across 21 different countries.

Announced via a blog post, YouTube Create is designed to help creators edit their own long-form videos and YouTube Shorts. It is part of Google’s ongoing quest to make itself a competitor for TikTok.

YouTube Create was first announced in September 2023. It initally launched for creators in the US, the UK, France, Germany, South Korea, Indonesia, India, and Singapore.

And now, along with these countries, the beta is now also available as of Feb. 28 in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey.

“Creators like you know that from start to finish, editing can be a painstaking, time-consuming, and expensive process. But with YouTube Create, it doesn’t have to be that way,” Kelly Lau-Kee, Product Manager at YouTube, said in a blog post

The app allows users to film and edit videos directly from their phones and easily upload mobile videos to YouTube. It allows users to add filters, effects, and royalty-free music to videos. Users can also remove background noise and generate automated captions and transcriptions for videos.

This latest editing beta comes hot on the heels of YouTube’s ‘Remix’ feature in February 2024. The remix tool helps creators make and edit videos along with footage from music videos.
