On Nov. 25, Linktree released its Creator Commerce Report. The report involved surveying almost 2,000 content creators to examine factors like their earning potential and relationship with e-commerce. Here’s what the survey discovered about Linktree creators.
For a lot of creators, the dream is to go full-time. But Linktree’s data suggests that this might not be possible. 70% of creators report earning less than $49,000 in the past year.
According to this report, creators also have issues with monetizing their content consistently. 59% of creators said they struggle with producing consistent content, while a further 55% said the unpredictability of the algorithm presented a barrier.
Another huge takeaway from this report is that people’s shopping habits have been impacted by creators.
According to Linktree, creators’ use of the platform to share affiliate content drives a huge amount of traffic.
For instance, clicks increased by 150% during events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. During Sephora’s Nov. 1-11 sale, daily clicks to Sephora affiliate links on Linktree rose by 75%.
The report also claims that of the 1.3 billion clicks per month on Linktree, 20% were for retail and e-commerce websites.
Authenticity in turn seems to be a driving factor for creator-commerce success, as 63% of creators report avoiding brand deals if they don’t believe in the company. This is called “persuasion currency.”
Ultimately, if this report is anything to go by, affiliate links might be the most lucrative route for creators.
