MrBeast Sues Former Employee For Leaking Company Secrets

Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson is officially suing ex-employee Leroy Nabors for breach of contract, sharing company secrets, and unauthorized surveillance. And it’s safe to say the lawsuit is unhinged.

According to Polygon, Nabors was initially hired in 2023 as an IT contractor. He was later moved to a “special projects” team until his firing on Oct. 1, 2024. With his IT work, Nabors had access to confidential information, which required signing a non-disclosure agreement as part of his employment.

Donaldson’s lawyers claim that he broke that agreement by downloading more than a thousand confidential files and syncing them to his personal Dropbox account.

The files he downloaded are described by the lawsuit as “highly confidential information about business strategy, financial information, capitalization tables, financing documents, individual employee personal information, and other MrBeast intellectual property.”

The MrBeast HQ Had Hidden Cameras

The suit also claims that Nabors, along with his daughter, installed hidden cameras in several offices in the California headquarters. Moreover, it’s worth noting that Nabors’ daughter owns the IT company from which he was contracted.

The complaint adds that Nabors was allegedly known among staff for secretly recording meetings, so this wouldn’t exactly be out of character for him.

Ultimately, Donaldson wants damages and a permanent injunction that forces Nabors to give the files back. But I have a hunch things won’t be as simple as that.

There’s an important lesson creators can take away from this: be careful of whom you trust. Make sure your collaborators and employees are thoroughly vetted, and be selective about what information you want to share.
