Patreon announced it’s expanding community chats to foster more direct connections between creators and fans. The platform will undergo four main changes.
First off, creators and fans will be able to access chats and communicate on mobile devices as well as desktops. Previously, the feature was only available on mobile.
Second, creators at Patreon now have the option to assign users moderator roles in community chats. This is to “help cultivate a safe and welcome space within chats.”
Thirdly, Patreon is also giving creators the ability to broaden community chats to include all fans — not just paying members.
Finally, Patreon will begin testing video stickers so fans can get more personalized video responses from creators.
“Patreon will continue to put creators and communities first, working hard to build spaces where direct creator-to-fan and fan-to-fan relationships are stronger than ever,” Patreon added in a blog post.
“Ultimately, the more that creators are able to form real, direct, energized connections with their fandoms, the more they’ll set themselves up for long-term fulfillment and success, both creatively and financially, for years to come.”
