If you’re a creator on Instagram, it’s likely that your DMs are chaos. But new changes announced on Nov. 1 will no doubt make your life a lot easier. Instagram is introducing new tools to filter through and categorize messages in the ‘Message Requests’ section of your inbox.

How can I filter Instagram DMs?

Creators can filter messages by categories, including follower count, verified accounts, business accounts, subscribers, brands, and creators. These options are collated within an overlay of your Instagram inbox entitled ‘Sort & filter.’

As TechCrunch points out, creators will be able to narrow down the types of messages displayed by ticking and un-ticking some of these aforementioned options. In addition to this, a new ‘Story Replies’ folder is being rolled out to centralize all the responses to your Instagram stories.

Moreover, according to TechCrunch, Instagram said that it decided to roll out these changes after creators from all over the world shared how difficult it was to manage their DMs.

Furthermore, in a video announcing the change, Instagram and Threads head Adam Mosseri said: “When you go to the requests inbox, sometimes it can be really overwhelming, and I’ve heard this a lot from creators I’ve talked to around the world. So what we’ve done is we’ve added ways to filter down those requests to just see the ones that you’re looking for.”
