Plenty of Kickstarter creators will be breathing a sigh of relief right now as the fundraiser platform releases one of its most requested tools.
The Kickstarter Pledge Manager, which is now available to all creators, is essentially a suite of post-campaign tools. As Kickstarter points out on its website, previously, managing pledges, add-ons, taxes, shipping, and payment information all had to be done using third-party tools.
One of the main features of this suite is the ability to create tailored surveys for backers, with the addition of a “flexible address collection” and automating SKU management. In addition to this, the creator will be able to update campaign awards and deliver add-ons to both current and potential backers.
Kickstarter has also given its Backer Report tool a much-needed update, allowing creators to “seamlessly” manage campaign data. The tool also boasts segment creation, customizable features, and exports that are “compatible with common fulfilment partners.” These tools will also let creators edit backers’ addresses, send tracking information to them, and share more digital rewards.
There are also new shipping tools that help creators charge shipping costs based on weights and flat rates to allow for more accuracy. Additionally, the suite allows for integrated tax collection, which allows creators to collect both US sales tax and European VAT tax.
And finally, the Kickstarter pledge manager also includes the recently released Tariff Manager, which allows creators to add additional costs based on tariffs.
“This launch is a major transformation in how Kickstarter supports creators,” Kickstarter said in an email to Passionfruit. “The platform has long helped them fund their ideas. Now, it’s helping them deliver on their promises to backers with less friction.”
