- BuzzFeed will introduce a new creator residency program that will give creators access to BuzzFeed’s tools and distribution in exchange for cross-posting content onto BuzzFeed’s channels, its CEO told Axios.
- The announcement is following the shuttering of BuzzFeed News and the company’s wider push away from staff writers and towards creator-made and AI-written content.
- Meanwhile, thousands of Hollywood movie and television writers went on strike this week to protest the lack of safeguards to regulate the use of AI in scriptwriting and to demand higher wages.
- After the hyped launch of ByteDance app Lemon8, a creator told the Information that they were âexhaustedâ from constantly having âFOMOâ with new apps promising to be the next big thing.
- U.S.-based creators can now distribute podcasts on YouTube Music. The platform released tips for podcasters, and many creators expressed excitement about the news.
- Meanwhile, audio-only platform Clubhouse laid off over half its staff.
