🎮 Paving the Way for Black Women in Gaming

Gaming is often a hostile environment for women and people of color. However, while gaming remains predominantly white and male, a recent study from NewZoo shows there is demand for more diversity in the industry and for companies to commit to curbing hate toward minority gamers. There is still progress to be made, but many creators are pushing for a more inclusive landscape by creating safe spaces for their fellow marginalized gamers. Austreah Garnes, known as Ms. Pinky online, is one of these creators. She has found success in gaming and wants to use her platform to uplift other Black female gamers. Passionfruit contributor Marquis Taylor interviewed Garnes about chasing partnerships, the importance of representation in video games, and finding community.

  • TikTok launched an avatar feature that can be used in videos.
