🐕 Twitter’s Dogecoin Drama

CREATOR ECONOMY NEWSLETTER

Oh boy, there was a lot of Twitter drama this week.

Although Twitter announced it would revoke legacy verification status for its users beginning April 1, it appears only a few accounts have been removed, aside from accounts like the New York Times. It seems legacy verified accounts will be slowly removed over the next few weeks. See a recap of the news below from reporter Gavia Baker-Whitelaw.

In addition, as you probably noticed on Wednesday, Twitter’s logo on the upper left hand corner changed from the little blue bird to the Doge meme icon. While some Twitter users thought the move was a late April Fool’s Day joke, others are speculating that a new update to the app is an attempt by CEO Elon Musk to bury news of a racketeering lawsuit against him. Read reporter Jacob Seitz’s breakdown of the speculation below.
