At long last, Spotify Wrapped 2024 has arrived. But before we dig into our own personal bests, here are a few industry trends highlighted by Spotify in a news blog.

First and foremost, there’s the global music trends. Spotify’s top global artist for the second year running is Taylor Swift. Reportedly, she amassed a total of over 26.6 billion streams.

Spotify’s top song this year is Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” with over 1.6 billion streams globally. But when it came to albums, it was back to Swift, with “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” reigning supreme over other top albums by Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter.

In the blog post, Spotify also identified the most “viral” song, which they classify as being the one most shared by Spotify users. The song that topped them all was Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With a Smile.”

Furthermore, the post shared that for the fifth year in a row, Joe Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” cinched the top global podcast spot. He was followed, as usual by Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy.”

Spotify also highlighted how over half a billion users have listened to podcasts since the platform entered the space in 2019.

What’s new for Spotify Wrapped 2024?

The post also highlighted a number of new personalized Spotify features coming to Wrapped. However, the most interesting one is the Spotify Wrapped AI podcast. Built with Google’s NotebookLM, this podcast delves deep into your favorite music and artists with two AI-generated co-hosts.

Moreover, Spotify announced in the post that it now has a sharing integration with TikTok. This makes sharing your Wrapped on the app easier than ever.

Most importantly for creators, Spotify has launched its 2024 Wrapped Creator Experience for Podcast Creators, Artists, Advertisers, and Authors. Creators will have access to their own individual Wrapped microsite to learn more about their fans’ listening habits this year.

So, another year, another Wrapped. We couldn’t be more excited.
