Digital marketing conference The Webby Awards is back for a 29th year, and now, more than ever, creators are at the forefront. On Sept. 10, the awards body announced a new suite of creator-centric categories.

New creator-centric awards include Creator Excellence, Most Viral, and Best Editing. There will also be individual creator awards across categories like Business, Comedy, Fashion, Fitness, Wellness, Food and Drink, Television and Film, Sports, News and Politics, Kids and Family, Home and Travel, and Gaming.

The next Webby Awards will take place in May 2025 in New York City. Entries are now open for early nominations and close on Oct. 25. The final deadline for entries is Dec. 20.

Who is judging the Webby Awards?

With all these new categories, it should come as no surprise that there are new judges, too.

Some of the judges announced include internet culture reporter Taylor Lorenz, creator economy entrepreneur Brendan Gahan, “Chicken Shop Date” host Amelia Dimoldenberg, YouTuber Nick DiGiovanni, and CCO Christoph Becker of influencer marketing agency Whalar.

In the past, the Webby Awards recognized creators like MrBeast and Michelle Phan. But historically, most winners tended to be ad agencies and brands. These new categories will change the game entirely.

“This year, we’ve seen even more creativity flourish online — from creators, technologists, filmmakers, and brands — these innovators continue to shape how we live, work, and imagine.” Nick Borenstein, General Manager of The Webby Awards, said in a press statement.

“The 29th Annual Webby Awards offer a chance to embrace innovation, celebrate excellence, and elevate outstanding online work. We’re honored to welcome a new panel of judges to select the best of the Internet, ensuring The Webbys remain a beacon of inspiration as we work toward a more connected, joyful future.”
