On May 27, prosecutors in the UK confirmed they were bringing 21 criminal charges against manosphere influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate.
Andrew Tate has had a total of 11 charges brought against him, including human trafficking, rape, actual bodily harm, and controlling prostituion for gain. These charges are in relation to one victim.
Tristan Tate had 10 charges brought against him, including trafficking, actual bodily harm, and rape. These charges are also in relation to one victim.
According to the BBC, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided to charge the brothers after Bedfordshire Police in the UK provided it with a dossier of evidence against the pair.
“A European arrest warrant was issued in England in 2024, and as a result, the Romanian courts ordered the extradition to the UK of Andrew and Tristan Tate,” the CPS added in a statement. “However, the domestic criminal matters in Romania must be settled first.”
As reported by the BBC, the siblings were first arrested in Romania back in December 2022. Andrew Tate was arrested for rape and human trafficking, while Tristan Tate was arrested for human trafficking. The pair then received further charges in Romania in August 2024, including trafficking underage people and sex with a minor.
“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendants have the right to a fair trial,” the CPS added. “It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
