Move over TikTok Shop: there’s a new virtual storefront in town. This week, creator-commerce company LTK launched a shoppable, full-screen short-form video feed.
Visually, the feed looks quite similar to TikTok, although it doesn’t work in quite the same way in terms of algorithms. Instead of a TikTok ‘For-You’ style feed based on user preferences, users can instead pick a certain creator and scroll through all the videos in the creator’s feed.
In terms of visuals, there’s a clickable carousel that displays a range of products at the bottom of each video. As pointed out by Business Insider, this video feature has been designed “specifically for shopping.”
What is LTK?
LTK, formerly known as LikeToKnow, is an influencer marketing platform that helps creators earn money from collaborating with brands.
Consumers visit the LTK app, which features a number of ‘LTK Creators.’ These creators showcase a range of products through which they earn commissions. LTK takes a small percentage fee on purchases.
Brands LTK work with include L’Oreal, Wayfair, Expedia, Nordstrom, Madewell, and Target. Per the LTK website, it’s the hub of 44,000 brand collaborations a year.
According to a press release, LTK is also set to introduce a new feature known as Daily Drops. Visually, it’s set to be similar to Instagram stories, with unwatched Daily Drop videos appearing as a ring around the creator in question’s profile.
“Video is critical for creators,” Kit Ulrich, General Manager of LTK’s Creator Shopping Platform, said in the press release. “By transforming the LTK app into a video-first platform, LTK is helping our creators earn more by directly catering to shoppers’ preferences.”
