👾 Minecraft Creator Accused of Grooming

CREATOR ECONOMY NEWSLETTER

After 78 issues and over a year of producing creator-focused content for Passionfruit, this is my last note to you, dear readers! To be clear, Passionfruit isn’t going anywhere—just me. From this point forward, the newsletter will be helmed by a familiar face (err, name): Grace Stanley.

We’ve strived to demonstrate the highs and lows of the creator economy, providing advice from top creators on how to navigate the space, suggesting tools for beginners, and sharing news pertaining to important issues in the creator world. It has been—and continues to be—crucial for us to bring you stories from underrepresented communities and areas of the creator space. There is plenty more to come as Passionfruit grows, and I hope you will continue to follow our journey through the creator economy as you pursue yours.

The featured story in today’s newsletter touches on some of the serious issues we will continue to confront as the creator space grows in power and influence. Top Minecraft creator Dream, who recently made headlines for revealing his identity, was accused of grooming by two fans who say they were minors at the time. Passionfruit contributor Steven Asarch provides a timeline of the allegations below.
