The audiobook industry is booming on Spotify, with the platform claiming to have a catalog of over 300,000 books. So, the rolling out of Spotify for Authors feels like a natural progression.
According to Spotify, this new initiative “empowers authors and publishers with better tools and data to maximize their success on Spotify.” It follows similar initiatives like Spotify for Creators and Spotify for Artists.
How will Spotify for Authors help creators?
One thing authors will have access to is aggregated audience demographics (including age and gender). Another perk is redemption codes for royalty-free copies of books for reviewers and fans.
Authors will also have access to promo cards to assist with the making of sharable social content and early access to the Author Profiles feature, which will help increase brand discovery.
Meanwhile, Spotify said that it has “worked alongside publishers to develop impactful tools” for them, too. This includes expanding on existing insights and analytics tools offered in Passport, like catalog management and royalty reporting.
“We believe that one of the best ways to support authors and publishers is by giving them access to the right tools and data,” Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks Product and Technology at Spotify said in an interview.
“With Spotify for Authors, we’re giving our partners across the audiobook industry more comprehensive insights and marketing features to make the most of their presence on Spotify.”
Spotify for Authors is now available for authors and publishers.
